EDUCATION IS NOT A PRIVILEGE. IT IS A HUMAN RIGHT.

Education is like a seed. Its real value comes when it is offered to those who cannot afford it and for this right to flourish and grow, the best conditions are needed. Education must be accessible to all; it must be of the best quality. And it should not be seen as a privilege to be bestowed by a government, it is a legal right for everyone which includes children, youth, and adults.

So far this is yet to be a reality for millions of people around the world. Presently less fewer countries can guarantee 12 years of free and compulsory education. There are still about 262 million children out of school, and over 750 million youth and adults cannot read and write. This is unacceptable, countries must ensure that the people left behind have access to the powerful seed of education they are entitled to Education is a fundamental human right and can be seen as the key to unlocking all other human rights such as social, economic, or cultural rights, or political and civil rights. The right to employment, the right to health, freedom of expression, the right to a free and fair trial, and the main prohibition against discrimination – all of these rights rest on the foundation of quality education: to be able to claim, enjoy, protect and respect these rights. This is ever more important in countries affected by armed conflict, where the rule of law often is replaced by the rule by force
